First Signature Collection Recap

On Saturday, September 9, the campaign hosted its first volunteer outing. Six volunteers came out to help me collect petition signatures. Thank you so much to Qiana, Camille, Taylor, Jelani, Ariel, and Jim for giving me their time on Saturday; your time is truly a gift. Together we covered the 79th St Renaissance Festival, the Bronzeville Community, and the 18th Ward Gospel Fest.

As we all know, Chicago is a machine politics town and established candidates expend tremendous resources to kick insurgent candidates, like me, off the ballot. The next few months are critical for the campaign, as it takes more than 1,500 signatures to have a realistic chance of getting on the ballot. Last week, my incredible volunteers and I collected 445 signatures; truly a great start to this work, but we need your help.

This Friday, September 15, we'll meet at the Dr. Martin Luther King Community Service Center (4314 S. Cottage Grove Dr.) at 6:00 pm to collect signatures during Bronzeville Nights. This is a great event for the family to enjoy the Bronzeville community and the rich artistic culture, food, and entertainment of our great neighborhood. If you have an hour or two free on Friday, please connect with us and engage the public; every little bit helps.

You can sign up for this Friday volunteer opportunity and other opportunities on my volunteer page. You can also connect with my campaign manager Jim Rauh at (312) 600-5156, or via email at, to rsvp for Friday, or learn more about volunteering for the campaign.

Yours truly,

Joshua Gray
